The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant changes to the NEET Undergraduate (UG) examination pattern for 2025, reverting to the pre-COVID format. These modifications are crucial for aspirants to understand as they prepare for the exam.
Key Changes in NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern:
- Removal of Optional Questions: The optional questions introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic have been eliminated. All questions are now compulsory.
- Exam Structure: The exam will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed in 180 minutes (3 hours). The distribution is as follows: - Physics: 45 questions
- Chemistry: 45 questions
- Biology (Botany and Zoology): 90 questions

- Marking Scheme: The marking scheme remains unchanged: - +4 marks for each correct answer
- -1 mark for each incorrect answer
- 0 marks for unattempted questions

Implications for Aspirants:
- Comprehensive Preparation: With the removal of optional questions, it's essential to thoroughly study the entire syllabus, as skipping topics is no longer advisable.
- Time Management: Efficient time management becomes crucial. Practice completing each section within the allotted time to ensure you can answer all questions.
- Accuracy Over Guesswork: Due to negative marking, focus on accuracy. It's better to leave a question unanswered than to guess and risk losing marks.
Preparation Tips:
- Structured Study Plan: Develop a study schedule that covers all topics, allocating more time to areas where you're less confident.
- Regular Mock Tests: Engage in regular mock tests that simulate the actual exam environment to build stamina and assess your preparation level.
- Review and Revise: Regularly revisit topics you've studied to reinforce your understanding and retention.
- Stay Updated: Keep an eye on official NTA announcements for any further changes or updates regarding the exam.
These changes aim to streamline the examination process and return to a standardized format. By understanding and adapting to these modifications, aspirants can enhance their preparation and performance in NEET UG 2025.
